Xbox Cloud Gaming’s new design teases the future of Xbox console UI

Microsoft Testing Refreshed Web Experience for Xbox Cloud Gaming

Microsoft has recently launched a preview UI for Xbox Cloud Gaming that showcases a more console-like design. This new interface is currently available for Xbox Insiders to test, featuring updated navigation elements, new animations, and an overall refreshed look. It serves as a glimpse into the future of Xbox consoles.

The existing Xbox Cloud Gaming interface underwent a significant overhaul almost two years ago, introducing social features and a UI similar to the Xbox dashboard. The latest redesign brings the interface even closer to an actual Xbox console with various new animations, a revamped library section, and a rounded design.

Notable additions in the new design include a sliding dashboard interface, an animated Xbox icon, and improved navigation throughout the dashboard sections. These subtle yet impactful changes enhance the overall navigation experience of Xbox Cloud Gaming, moving away from the traditional web app feel.

Patrick Siu, principal product manager at Xbox, mentioned that the refreshed web experience for Xbox Cloud Gaming sets the stage for creating new player-centric features. The preview allows users to explore the updated design and product flow before its wider release.

The mention of this new UI paving the way for “new experiences” hints at a potential integration into future Xbox consoles. Additionally, there are hopes for this interface to be incorporated into the Xbox app on PC, addressing navigation and animation concerns.

Microsoft is actively seeking feedback on the new Xbox Cloud Gaming UI before its official rollout in the upcoming months. Users can access the preview features by visiting the new Xbox Cloud Gaming site and enabling the toggle from the settings menu.
