2026 Genesis GV80: Unveiling the Price and Specs of the Ultimate Luxury SUV
Genesis has made significant changes to its GV80 lineup for the 2026 model year. The base price of the Genesis GV80 has been reduced by $10,000, now starting at $120,000 before on-road costs. This reduction comes with the return of a four-cylinder engine, specifically the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was dropped for the 2024 model year. Unfortunately, the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six engine, which was discontinued in 2024, has not made a comeback as it is no longer being produced.
The GV80 lineup now includes a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6-powered variant that remains in the range but is $2000 more expensive for 2026. Additionally, prices for other models in the large luxury SUV lineup have increased by between $1500 and $1700.
The GV80 SUVs now come with the Signature trim name, except for the new Black flagship variant, which is only available with the 3.5T engine. The GV80 Coupe continues to be offered in its unique trim level, with special inclusions over the Signature SUV, and is also available in Black trim.
The optional Rear Seat Entertainment Package, which included dual 14.7-inch rear touchscreens with a remote control, USB-C port, and HDMI port, has been discontinued. However, customers can still opt for a six-seat layout featuring second-row captain’s chairs, a fixed center console, and a wireless phone charger.
The new Black editions of the GV80 lineup come with a range of dark-themed exclusive appointments and eco-friendly materials, including leather upholstery and door trims dyed using recycled carbon black extracted from waste tires.
A notable addition for the 2026 model year is the implementation of Digital Key 2.0, a Genesis-first feature that enhances the existing Genesis Connected Services suite in Australia. Digital Key allows owners to lock, unlock the doors, or start the engine remotely using their compatible smartphone or smartwatch. It can be stored on one device and shared with up to 15 other devices, and it does not require a mobile network signal to work.
The returning 2.5T drivetrain, which had been dropped for 2024, is back despite accounting for around 25% of local GV80 sales. Genesis Australia’s CEO mentioned that the new GV80 Coupe is expected to account for 30% of overall sales for the large luxury SUV.
In terms of sales figures, Genesis has delivered 165 GV80 SUVs and 72 GV80 Coupes up to the end of October. The coupe-like body style is currently accounting for 30% of total GV80 sales.
Prices for the Genesis GV80 have increased since its 2022 launch, but this is due to changes in the model lineup and standard features. The base 2.5T rear-wheel drive configuration was dropped for 2024, and for 2025, the $10,500 Luxury Pack was made standard.
These updates follow a more substantial update last year, which brought refreshed styling, the new Coupe derivative, and a revised cabin with features like an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, fingerprint recognition, and a digital rear-view mirror.
In terms of dimensions, the GV80 lineup includes two body styles: the regular SUV with three rows of seating and the sleeker Coupe with two rows.
The Genesis GV80 range is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty with five years or 50,000km of complimentary scheduled servicing. Servicing is required every 12 months or 10,000km, and Genesis offers its Genesis To You service during the warranty period, including a valet service for servicing.
Safety-wise, the Genesis GV80 has a five-star rating from ANCAP, based on testing conducted in 2021 for the 2.5-litre turbo-four variants. The 3.5-litre variants are currently unrated.
Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot assist, lane-keep assist, and multiple airbags, among other features.
The GV80 lineup offers three trim levels, each with its own set of standard equipment. The GV80 Signature, GV80 Coupe, and Black editions come with unique features and design elements to cater to different preferences.
Options for the GV80 lineup include a six-seat interior configuration, exterior color choices, and additional packages. Customers can also opt for matte finishes for an extra cost.
Overall, the 2026 Genesis GV80 lineup offers a range of options, features, and trim levels to cater to different preferences and needs in the luxury SUV market.
