Amazon Luna axes third-party game purchases

Amazon Luna Makes Major Changes to Game Purchasing and Subscriptions

Amazon Luna recently announced significant changes that will impact how players can purchase third-party games and subscriptions. As of June 10th, 2026, the cloud gaming service will no longer allow players to buy third-party games, although previously purchased titles can still be accessed through EA, GOG, or Ubisoft accounts on other platforms.

In conjunction with this update, Amazon Luna will no longer support third-party stores from EA, Ubisoft, or GOG. Subscriptions to Ubisoft Plus and Jackbox Games will be discontinued, and active Luna subscriptions for these services will be canceled at the end of the billing cycle. Additionally, the platform is discontinuing its “Bring Your Own Library” feature, meaning players will lose access to third-party platform titles on Luna after June 3rd. Refunds will not be offered for third-party games purchased through Luna.

As a result of these changes, users will be limited to playing games included in their Amazon Luna subscription. The Luna Standard plan, available with a $14.99 Amazon Prime subscription, offers titles like EA Sports FC 26, Hogwarts Legacy, Skyrim, Death Stranding, and more. The Luna Premium plan, priced at $9.99 per month, features an expanded game library with titles such as Alien: Isolation, Borderlands 3, and Sonic Frontiers.

According to Brittney Hefner, a spokesperson for Amazon Luna, the service is shifting away from certain subscription and purchasing models to better cater to customer needs in the long run. Hefner emphasizes that Amazon remains committed to offering a diverse range of gaming experiences, including popular third-party titles available through the Luna subscription.
