In summary:

  • Tech Advisor reports that YouTube Premium is raising US subscription prices, with individual plans increasing to $15.99/month and family plans to $26.99/month.

  • Existing subscribers will face these price hikes starting June 2026, while new users are already paying the updated rates immediately.

  • The increases affect all tiers including the Lite plan at $8.99/month, with subscribers able to cancel or pause subscriptions if costs become prohibitive.

YouTube users are in for a change as YouTube Premium is set to increase its subscription prices in June 2026. This adjustment follows the introduction of unskippable ads on the platform.

New users are already experiencing the updated prices, while existing customers have been notified via email about the upcoming changes.

The new pricing for YouTube Premium packages is as follows:

  • Individual: $15.99/month (previously $13.99)

  • Family: $26.99/month (previously $22.99)

  • Lite: $8.99/month (previously $7.99)

While the price increase may not be welcomed by users, it is not unexpected. YouTube Premium has not raised its subscription costs since 2023, unlike platforms like Netflix that regularly adjust their prices.

If the cost of ad-free viewing becomes too high for users, they have the option to cancel or pause their subscriptions for up to six months. This can be done within their YouTube account under the Membership option.
