Berlin Tower Secures €5.5 Million Funding to Revolutionize Last-Mile Data Engineering in the AI Age
Tower, a Berlin-based platform, has successfully secured €5.5 million ($6.4 million) in funding through a pre-Seed and Seed round. The funding will be utilized to expand its go-to-market team and enhance its platform capabilities.
The pre-Seed round was spearheaded by DIG Ventures, while the Seed round was led by Speedinvest, with participation from existing investors. Other investors include Flyer One Ventures, Roosh Ventures, Celero Ventures, and Angel Invest, along with notable angels such as Jordan Tigani, Olivier Pomel, Ben Liebald, and Maik Taro Wehmeyer.
CEO Serhii Sokolenko emphasized the importance of AI coding assistants in accelerating development, shifting the challenge to production. Tower aims to bridge this gap by enabling builders to create pipelines and agents efficiently, running them reliably on real company data.
Founded in 2024 by former Snowflake engineers Sokolenko and Brad Heller, Tower offers a unified platform where humans and AI agents collaborate to transform AI-generated code into dependable software systems for businesses.
The platform is designed for teams delivering scalable data and AI products, integrating Python-native orchestration, managed Iceberg storage, and control plane APIs into a single multi-tenant system. This integration eliminates the need for stitching together disparate tools.
CTO Brad Heller highlighted the operational challenges faced by developers despite the productivity enhancements brought by AI coding agents. Tower aims to address these challenges by streamlining the process of testing, issue resolution, production delivery, and operation of code.
Tower’s platform combines storage and processing compute, providing powerful analytics capabilities to data engineering teams. The storage platform utilizes the Apache Iceberg open table format, ensuring compatibility with major data engine vendors and empowering customers with fresh, company-specific data for accurate decision-making.
The company has gained traction globally, with builders adopting Tower as their preferred ‘last mile’ platform, especially within the Vertical AI services and SaaS sectors.
Florian Obst, Principal at Speedinvest, commended Tower for its purpose-built platform that enables fast integration and rapid iteration for teams developing vertical AI services and SaaS products.
Tower has experienced significant growth since its launch, with over 200,000 runs of 30,000+ unique apps and 70,000 monthly downloads of its Python SDK in February.
In conclusion, Tower continues to revolutionize data engineering in the AI era, providing a comprehensive platform for turning AI-generated code into reliable software systems for businesses worldwide. With its innovative approach and strong investor backing, Tower is poised for further success in the evolving tech landscape.
