Nacon Files for Insolvency Amid Financial Troubles

Nacon, the publishers behind popular games such as Styx: Blades of Greed, RoboCop: Rogue City, and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, have officially announced that they have filed for insolvency. The French company revealed their decision to initiate “judicial reorganisation proceedings” in an effort to address financial challenges, protect employees, and safeguard jobs while engaging in negotiations with creditors.

The announcement was made through a press release issued by Nacon on February 25th. The company cited the financial difficulties faced by its majority shareholder, Bigben Interactive, as a contributing factor to their insolvency filing. Following a delay in the repayment of a bond loan to bondholders, Nacon found it necessary to swiftly implement a financial restructuring with creditors to ensure the continuation of their operations.

Nacon emphasized the importance of assessing all possible solutions during the insolvency process to secure a sustainable future for the company, prioritize employee well-being, and maintain job stability. The company is actively engaging in constructive discussions with creditors to reach favorable outcomes.

According to Nacon, the insolvency filing aims to enable the company to renegotiate debts, develop a viable continuation plan, and ultimately sustain its business operations. Employee representatives, including unions, were informed of these decisions on February 24th.

The request for judicial reorganisation proceedings is expected to be reviewed by a court in early March, with Nacon’s share price remaining suspended in the interim period.

Nacon has a history of publishing popular titles such as Styx: Blades of Greed, RoboCop: Rogue City, and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. They have also been associated with KT Racing’s WRC rally games and recently acquired the series’ license from 2027 onwards. The company’s upcoming showcase on March 4th is set to provide updates on various games, including Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, The Mound, Edge of Memories, and Endurance Motorsport Series.
