ChipSoft Faces Ransomware Attack Impacting Dutch Healthcare Sector

The Dutch healthcare software vendor, ChipSoft, recently fell victim to a ransomware attack, resulting in the temporary shutdown of its website and digital services for patients and healthcare providers.

Specializing in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ChipSoft’s flagship platform, HiX, is widely utilized by numerous hospitals in the Netherlands.

Reports surfaced on Reddit indicating the cybersecurity incident affecting ChipSoft, a key player in providing digital solutions for the healthcare sector.

Local media confirmed the cyberattack on ChipSoft based on an internal memo circulated to healthcare institutions, warning of potential unauthorized access.

ChipSoft reassured healthcare center operators of its efforts to mitigate the impact and advised them to disconnect from its systems until the situation is resolved.

The country’s cybersecurity response team for healthcare, Z-CERT, confirmed the ransomware incident and pledged to collaborate with ChipSoft and healthcare institutions for recovery.

As a precautionary measure, ChipSoft disabled connections to its Zorgportaal, HiX Mobile, and Zorgplatform digital health services.

While some patient-facing systems continue to function normally, reports indicate disruptions at hospitals such as Sint Jans Gasthuis in Weert, the Laurentius in Roermond, the VieCuri hospital in Venlo, and the Flevo Hospital in Almere.

BleepingComputer’s attempts to reach ChipSoft for further details on the incident remain unanswered at this time.

Cyberattacks on healthcare IT providers pose significant risks as these companies manage sensitive data for multiple healthcare centers.

Last month, CareCloud disclosed a data breach leading to service disruptions, while in March 2026, TriZetto Provider Solutions, a subsidiary of Cognizant, experienced a data breach affecting millions.
