Enhancing AI Workforce Readiness and Security: EC-Council’s Expanded Certification Portfolio
With the global AI risk exposure amounting to $5.5 trillion and 700,000 U.S. workers in need of reskilling, EC-Council has introduced four new AI certifications and Certified CISO v4 to bridge the gap between AI adoption and workforce readiness.
EC-Council, renowned for creating the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) credential and being a leading provider of applied cybersecurity education worldwide, has unveiled its Enterprise AI Credential Suite. This launch includes four new role-based AI certifications and an enhanced executive cyber leadership program, Certified CISO v4.
This dual launch marks the most extensive expansion in EC-Council’s 25-year history, aiming to address a crucial gap where the rate of AI scaling surpasses the preparedness of the workforce to manage, secure, and regulate it.
The introduction of these programs aligns with the U.S. government’s focus on workforce development and applied AI education, as outlined in various Executive Orders. It comes at a time when organizations are transitioning AI from experimental phases to everyday use in operations and decision-making processes.
The urgency is evident from the economic risks and workforce challenges associated with AI adoption. Estimates suggest that unmanaged AI risks could reach $5.5 trillion globally, while there is projected to be a 700,000-person gap in AI and cybersecurity reskilling in the United States alone.
In addition, leading global organizations like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have highlighted the importance of workforce readiness in driving AI-driven productivity and growth, especially with the rapid adoption of AI across various sectors.
As AI adoption accelerates, security concerns are also on the rise. A significant percentage of organizations have reported AI-driven attacks, and the volume of generative AI traffic has surged, leading to increased attack surfaces. However, many teams are still in the learning phase of defending against these threats. Moreover, AI talent remains concentrated in specific regions, with women representing a minority in the AI workforce, indicating persistent access and participation gaps.
According to Jay Bavisi, Group President of EC-Council, “AI is transitioning from experimental to foundational infrastructure, and the workforce needs to evolve alongside it.” The new programs are designed to equip professionals with practical skills in AI adoption, security, and governance, enabling organizations to scale AI initiatives with confidence and accountability.
Role-Aligned Certifications
The Enterprise AI Credential Suite is structured to reflect the practical development of AI capabilities. The Artificial Intelligence Essentials (AIE) certification serves as the foundation, fostering AI literacy and responsible usage across different roles. This is complemented by EC-Council’s Adopt. Defend. Govern. (ADG) framework, which outlines the operationalization of AI at scale in real-world scenarios.
Adopt: Equips teams to deploy AI effectively with readiness and safeguards in place.
Defend: Focuses on securing AI systems against potential threats such as data poisoning, model exploitation, and AI supply-chain compromise.
Govern: Embeds accountability, oversight, and risk management into AI systems from the outset.
Within this framework, the four new certifications cater to specific workforce requirements across the AI lifecycle:
- Artificial Intelligence Essentials (AIE) lays the groundwork for AI literacy.
- Certified AI Program Manager (CAIPM) enables professionals to translate AI strategy into actionable plans, aligning teams, governance, and delivery for enterprise-scale intelligence and measurable ROI.
- Certified Offensive AI Security Professional (COASP) focuses on testing vulnerabilities in AI systems, simulating exploits, and fortifying AI infrastructure against emerging threats.
- Certified Responsible AI Governance & Ethics (CRAGE) emphasizes responsible AI practices, governance, and ethics at an enterprise level, aligning with NIST/ISO compliance standards.
In addition to the new AI certifications, the Certified CISO v4 program has been updated to enhance executive cyber leadership education in AI-driven risk environments. This aims to prepare leaders to manage AI-related risks effectively, strengthen governance, and make informed decisions when dealing with security responsibilities.
Bavisi further stated, “Security leaders now bear the responsibility for systems that learn, adapt, and impact outcomes rapidly. Certified CISO v4 equips leaders to navigate AI-driven risks confidently, enhance governance, and make informed decisions in critical situations.”
The portfolio builds on EC-Council’s existing collaborations with government and defense organizations, including its recognition under the DoD 8140 baseline certification. This is crucial as AI security and workforce readiness gain increasing national significance.
