Cape Fear - Javier Bardem as Max Cady

Apple TV+ is in the process of developing a new series based on the novel “The Executioners” by John D. MacDonald, titled Cape Fear. The show will star Javier Bardem as the vengeful killer Max Cady and Amy Adams as attorney Anna Bowden, according to a report by Tech Advisor. The series, a psychological thriller, will also feature executive producers Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese, with Patrick Wilson joining the main cast alongside supporting actors CCH Pounder and Ron Perlman.

The story of Cape Fear has previously been adapted for the screen, with a 1962 version starring Robert Mitchum and a 1991 version directed by Martin Scorsese and featuring Robert De Niro in the lead role. The upcoming adaptation, slated to debut on Apple TV+ on Friday, 5 June 2025, aims to live up to the high standards set by its predecessors.

The series, created by Nick Antosca, known for his work on productions like Hannibal and The Act, will follow the story of Max Cady, a killer seeking revenge on the attorneys who helped convict him. As Max tracks down Anna and Tom Bowden, the married attorneys played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, the couple remains unaware of the danger they are in.

Javier Bardem, known for his compelling performances in films like No Country for Old Men and Skyfall, takes on the role of Max Cady, while Amy Adams, acclaimed for her work in The Fighter and Sharp Objects, portrays Anna Bowden. Patrick Wilson, recognized for his roles in The Conjuring and Fargo, plays Tom Bowden in the series.
