Google Pixel 10a: A Ranking of All Four Color Options
Google unveiled its latest mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 10a, today, offering it in four different color options.
Prior to the official announcement, numerous leaks had already given us a good idea of what to expect from the design of the Google Pixel 10a. In essence, it closely resembles its predecessor, the Google Pixel 9a.
While the initial impression might suggest that the new colors are similar to those of the Pixel 9a, a closer look reveals why three out of the four colors have been given new names.
Following our tradition from the Pixel 10 launch, here are the four Pixel 10a colors, ranked based on my personal preference:
4. Obsidian
I would be contradictory to criticize modern smartphone design as boring and then rank the unchanged color in the Pixel 10a range anything higher than the bottom. The familiar shade in question is Obsidian, which is essentially a fancy term for black.
3. Fog
Kudos to Google for venturing beyond its usual palette with the Fog color. While naming a model after a weather type associated with dullness may not seem like the best PR move, this subtle shade requires a firsthand look before passing judgment. My feelings on Fog remain unclear.
2. Lavender
If there’s a flagship color, Lavender would undoubtedly fit the bill. This color has been featured prominently in Google’s early teaser images. It appears deeper and bluer than the slightly lackluster Iris option of the Pixel 9a, resembling the appealing Indigo shade of the Pixel 10.
1. Berry
Described as a “radioactive coral sort of finish” by TA Managing Editor Chris Martin, the Berry color may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, it stands out as the most vibrant and eye-catching option in the Pixel 10a lineup, far bolder than the subdued Peony of the Pixel 9a. It exudes the lively aftermath of a child’s birthday party, adding a touch of fun.
