Google Welcomes Chainsmokers-Approved AI Music Producer to the Team
Google Acquires ProducerAI: A Game-Changer in AI-Powered Music Creation
Google has recently acquired ProducerAI, an innovative music-making platform powered by artificial intelligence. As part of this acquisition, ProducerAI will be integrated into Google Labs and will be enhanced with Google’s cutting-edge Lyria 3 music-making AI model.
ProducerAI, launched in July 2025, revolutionized the music industry by offering users the ability to collaborate with an AI agent to generate sounds, craft lyrics, remix songs, and even invent new instruments based on specific prompts. Seth Forsgren, the CEO of ProducerAI, expressed excitement about the potential of this collaboration, stating that they are just scratching the surface of what can be achieved with Google’s resources.
According to Elias Roman, Google Labs’ director of product management, ProducerAI stands out from other AI music platforms due to its unique conversational interface with the built-in agent. Roman emphasized the importance of ongoing interactions in the music creation process, highlighting that ProducerAI is designed for iterative and collaborative music-making.
In addition to utilizing Lyria 3 for music generation and Gemini for chat interactions, ProducerAI will leverage Google’s image-generation model, Nano Banana, for creating album art, and Veo for generating AI-powered music videos. Roman explained that these models will be seamlessly integrated by the AI producer, allowing users to focus on their creative process while the AI handles coordination.
Notably, ProducerAI has collaborated with renowned artists such as The Chainsmokers, Lecrae, and Anjulie to develop the platform. Despite the growing acceptance of AI tools in the music industry, some platforms have faced criticism for producing AI-generated music that lacks authenticity. However, ProducerAI’s focus on enhancing the musician’s experience has garnered praise from artists like Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers.
ProducerAI will continue to operate as a standalone service within Google Labs, expanding Google’s AI toolset. Recently, Google integrated Lyria 3 into the Gemini app, allowing users to create 30-second tracks using text, images, and videos as prompts.
Users can access ProducerAI for free with a limited number of credits or opt for premium plans starting at $8 per month. With over 250 countries supported, ProducerAI is now accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, offering a seamless music-making experience for users worldwide.
