Introducing the Poco X8 Pro Max: The Ultimate Smartphone Upgrade

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco has officially introduced the Poco X8 Pro and the Poco X8 Pro Max, promising a level of mid-range performance that could give Samsung’s Galaxy A57 a run for its money.

The Poco X8 Pro Max marks the brand’s first foray into the Max phone category, boasting a substantial 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display with impressive specifications. The device also features an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a rare find in mid-range smartphones.

Housed in a robust IP68-certified body measuring 162.9 x 77.9 x 8.2mm and weighing 218g, the phone’s standout feature is its massive 8,500mAh battery. Additionally, it supports 100W wired charging for quick charging capabilities.

Although the attention may be on the Max model, the Poco X8 Pro offers a similar design in a slightly smaller package. It features a 6.59-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display and a 6,500mAh battery with 100W HyperCharge wired charging support.

The camera setup on the X8 Pro is comparable to the Max model, with a 50MP main sensor. Performance-wise, the device runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

Both phones operate on Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 UI, providing four years of OS updates and six years of security patches.

Additionally, a special edition of the Poco X8 Pro, known as the Iron Man Edition, offers unique branding and design elements inspired by Marvel’s Iron Man. This variant comes with the top memory configuration and is not available in the UK yet.

The pricing for the Poco X8 Pro Max starts at £469 for the 256GB model and goes up to £519 for the 512GB variant. On the other hand, the Poco X8 Pro starts at £349 for 256GB, reaching £399 for 512GB, and topping out at £429 for the 12GB RAM version. Despite the price increase over previous models, Xiaomi aims to provide competitive pricing in the market.
