Skyblivion project lead says the massive Oblivion remake mod is "in a great place" during its first proper showcase of 2026

Skyblivion Reveals Late-Stage Mages Guild Quests in Livestream Showcase

The team behind Skyblivion, a mod remake of Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine, recently showcased late-stage Mages Guild quests in a livestream. The project lead, Kyle ‘Rebelzize’ Rebel, mentioned that Skyblivion is currently in a great place and the team is working towards releasing it as soon as possible.

Last year, Skyblivion faced a delay after an ex-level and world designer on the project stated that the previous 2025 release goal was unachievable. This led to accusations of miscommunication within the team. However, the project lead, Heavy Burns, disputed many of the claims made by the ex-dev.

Streaming as part of C3, an annual fan-run event in support of the Make-A-Wish charity, Rebel showcased quests in Fort Ontus, Silorn, and Echo Cave. The stream had its challenges, with Rebel visibly affected by the news of Elder Scrolls YouTuber Mackenzie ‘Camelworks’ Rowles’ passing.

Despite the difficulties, Rebel soldiered on and provided an update on Skyblivion’s progress, mentioning bug fixing and a dedication to getting the mod into players’ hands soon.

Additional details shared during the stream included the revamping of magic in Skyblivion to introduce new spells, such as one that sets enemies on fire and explodes them upon death. The mod’s revamped dungeons, like Silorn, showcase impressive design and challenges, reminiscent of Skyrim’s Dwarven delves.

Skyblivion’s Ayleid ruins offer expansive vistas and intricate puzzles, making them a standout feature of the mod. The team’s dedication to modernizing Oblivion’s dungeons sets Skyblivion apart from Bethesda’s own remaster.

For more information on Skyblivion’s progress and updates, stay tuned for future showcases and announcements leading up to the anticipated 2026 release.
