The Future Placement of ALPINA in BMW’s Hierarchy Revealed
Breaking Down the Future of ALPINA Under BMW Group
- Discover the positioning of the ALPINA brand within the BMW Group hierarchy.
- ALPINA’s focus on crafting personalized, luxury vehicles above BMW’s flagship models.
- Rolls-Royce’s continued status as the pinnacle of the BMW Group’s luxury lineup.
It has been four years since the BMW Group finalized the acquisition of the ALPINA brand. Despite the announcement in March 2022, anticipation remains high for the unveiling of the first ALPINA vehicle. While the logo has received a facelift, the debut model is yet to be revealed.
During the annual conference, CEO Oliver Zipse shed light on the future direction of ALPINA within the BMW Group. Zipse emphasized the brand’s strategic positioning:
“ALPINA will cater to a lucrative segment with significant growth potential, positioned above BMW’s top-tier models and below the prestigious Rolls-Royce luxury brand.”
Zipse’s statement aligns with previous speculations about the ALPINA brand’s resurgence under BMW’s leadership. The focus is not merely on enhancing existing models like the B7 and XB7 but on redefining ALPINA’s product lineup.
The shift towards producing premium, high-end vehicles indicates a departure from the lower-tier models like the B3 and B5. ALPINA’s future endeavors will concentrate on delivering the most exclusive and luxurious offerings within the BMW Group’s portfolio.

The pricing strategy of ALPINA vehicles will fill a significant gap between BMW’s top models and Rolls-Royce’s ultra-luxury offerings. With the forthcoming G72 sedan and G69 SUV, ALPINA aims to appeal to discerning customers seeking exclusivity and customization.

The future of ALPINA under BMW Group’s stewardship promises a blend of luxury, performance, and personalization, catering to a niche market segment above standard BMW models but below the pinnacle of Rolls-Royce. Stay tuned for the unveiling of the G72 sedan and G69 SUV as ALPINA embarks on its journey towards redefining luxury automotive standards.
