Microsoft Introduces Virtual Mouse Cursor for Xbox Mode on Windows-based Handhelds

Microsoft has recently begun testing its very own virtual mouse cursor within the Xbox mode for Windows-based handheld devices. This innovative Gamepad Cursor feature offers users a convenient method to transform the left stick of devices like the Xbox Ally X into a virtual mouse, enhancing navigation and control.

Enhanced Navigation with Microsoft’s Gamepad Cursor

Unlike Asus’ cursor integrated into Armory Crate, Microsoft’s Gamepad Cursor is embedded within its exclusive Xbox mode on Windows 11. Activation of this feature can be easily done through the Game Bar, eliminating the need for Armory Crate. Once enabled, the left stick can function as a precise mouse, ideal for applications not optimized for controllers.

Efficient Control and Functionality

With the Gamepad Cursor, users can navigate screens using the left stick as a mouse, while the right stick facilitates vertical scrolling. The A button serves as the click function, enhancing usability for non-controller compatible apps or segments of PC games requiring mouse-like precision.

Testing and Accessibility

The virtual mouse feature is currently undergoing testing with Xbox Insiders by Microsoft. Interested users can easily join the program through the Xbox Insider Hub for early access to this functionality before its widespread release to all Windows 11 users.
