Bentley Unveils Its First Electric Luxury SUV: The Torcal

Bentley has made a groundbreaking entry into the electric vehicle market with the launch of its first electric luxury SUV, the Torcal. This new model will be available in standard and a more sporty S variant, boasting an impressive range of up to 375 miles.

The Bentley Torcal, manufactured by the prestigious brand based in Crewe, UK, maintains the signature elegance and sophistication associated with Bentley vehicles. Resembling the Bentayga, it features a distinguished design language with an illuminated rectangular grille, split LED headlights, and a sleek, sculpted hood.

The Torcal showcases a clean side profile accentuated by pull-type door handles and bold wheel arches. At the rear, the vehicle is equipped with slim LED taillights that frame the iconic Bentley badge at the center.

Stepping inside the Torcal EV, one is greeted with the opulence and refinement expected from a Bentley. The cabin exudes luxury, featuring a 3-spoke steering wheel, a digital dashboard, and a large central touchscreen display.

Powering the Torcal is a fully electric powertrain consisting of two permanent magnet synchronous motors, delivering an impressive 876 hp and 996 lb-ft of torque – the highest figures ever seen in a Bentley vehicle. This immense power allows the Torcal to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 162 mph.

Upon acceleration, the Torcal emits a unique propulsion sound mimicking the iconic 6.75-litre V8 engine, channeled through a premium 1,780W, 28-speaker sound system.

The Torcal is built on an 800V electric architecture and is equipped with a 113 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive range of 375 miles on a single charge. The vehicle offers rapid charging capabilities, allowing the battery to reach 80% capacity in under 20 minutes at 400 kW, adding 100 miles of range in just 7 minutes.

The standard variant of the Torcal boasts 810 hp and 881 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 155 mph.
