Embark Studios has unveiled details of the upcoming ARC Raiders Frozen Trail update, the first major content addition in their new biannual release strategy. Set to launch on 8th October, Frozen Trail will introduce players to a new map filled with massive ARC robots to battle.

Here’s a breakdown of everything revealed in the latest game trailer and press Q&A session.

Pendola Pass

Players will journey to the icy expanses of Pendola Pass, located north of the Rust Belt. This new location features a colossal, broken down ARC Walker emitting a distress signal that attracts raiders to the surrounding village. The freezing cold environment introduces a new weather effect called Flash Freeze, forcing players to seek shelter indoors to avoid its chilling effects. Additionally, new ARC variants, including ground robots and the imposing ARC Frigate, will provide a fresh endgame challenge. Players can board the Frigate to solve onboard puzzles, presenting a unique gameplay experience without the need for destruction.

The Bully, a quadrupedal aggressor, the Skulker, a quick-moving turret bot, and the Hydra, a multi-targeting tower, are among the new enemies introduced in Pendola Pass. While the Frigate event may appear in other maps, the Bully, Skulker, and Hydra will primarily roam Pendola Pass.

Progression and The Outpost

In ARC Raiders, progression is receiving an update. The skill tree has been refined to eliminate redundancy and introduce new skills. The Outpost, a customizable area outside Speranza, allows players to decorate and equip it with desired workbenches for crafting purposes. While currently accessed through the menu system, Embark plans to expand the Outpost, potentially allowing 3D exploration in the future and serving as a key feature for social hub areas.

Weapon Amplification, Stencils & new guns

The Research Station, constructed in the Outpost, enables Weapon Amplification, a system for upgrading 15 initial weapons. By acquiring materials and ARC components, players can enhance their weapons with various modifications, such as converting the Venator into a full-auto pistol. New weapons like the Stiletto battle rifle and the Bantam revolver, along with weapon stencils for customization, offer increased diversity in arsenal choices.

Grapples and Tethers

The update introduces three new gadgets. The grappling hook allows players to rappel down structures, swing across gaps, and even attach to ARCs for movement. The Tether Launcher restricts enemy movements by tethering them to the ground or surroundings, while the Yank Grenade pulls enemies towards its detonation point for strategic advantages.

Music and Pictures

New musical instruments, including the Banjo and Harmonica, have been added. Additionally, players can utilize an in-game camera with zoom, focus options, and selfie modes for capturing memorable moments.

Rewards Pass

A new battle pass system, featuring both free and paid tracks, offers cosmetic rewards across 60 tiers. The Premium Pass, available for purchase with Raider Tokens, unlocks exclusive cosmetics and additional rewards, enhancing the overall experience for dedicated players.

The ARC Raiders Frozen Trail update introduces significant enhancements to the game, aligning with the biannual content release schedule. With new locations, weapons, gadgets, and progression updates, players can expect a fresh gameplay experience with ample room for future expansions.
