Euphoria Season 3: Exciting Updates on Release Date, Plot, Cast, and More
After months of speculation, HBO has finally announced the approximate release date for the third season of Euphoria. Additionally, Sam Levinson, the showrunner, revealed some juicy details about what’s in store.
Euphoria is one of HBO’s most popular and best-rated series, yet the development of season 3 has been a bumpy path. First, the production was delayed by the actors’ and screenwriters’ strikes, and then it turned out that Sam Levinson needed more time to work on the script than initially anticipated. The popularity of the stars also became a problem, as they found it increasingly difficult to find time to appear in the HBO production.
After a wild season 2 finale, fans are eagerly anticipating the new episodes of Euphoria. We’ve gathered all the news about this outstanding HBO teen drama.
When will the Euphoria season 3 be released?
According to the latest information provided by HBO, Euphoria will return in April 2026.
HBO originally announced that Euphoria would return to Max in 2025.
However, it was later announced that the script for the new episodes wasn’t ready, and there was no confirmed date for when it would be completed, as the cast had been permitted to work on other projects.
What is the plot of Euphoria season 3?
Spoilers for Euphoria season 2 below.
The second season of Euphoria was full of drama and ended on a typically sour note.
Cassie and Nate’s romance led to a tumultuous end to Cassie’s friendship with Maddy. Nate himself reported his father, Cal, to the police, and Cal was arrested for possession of explicit material of a juvenile.
The highlight of the season was a school play prepared by Lexi, inspired by the lives of her and her classmates. However, the hilarious performance had unforeseen consequences. A furious Nate broke up with Cassie, who then climbed onto the stage and was assaulted by a vengeful Maddy.
Unfortunately, Fez, who became friends with Lexi during the season, didn’t make it to the show. Just as he was leaving, the dealer and his brother Ashtray got into a shoot-out with the police. As a result, Fez was wounded, and Ash was killed.
The only positive element of the season’s ending was Rue’s reconciliation with Jules and Elliot after her dramatic drug crisis.

If you hope to find out in season 3 what happened right after the messy school play, you may be surprised – there will be a time jump between seasons as much as 5 years into the future. It means that the next time we see Rue and her schoolmates, they will be young adults.
As revealed by Levinson, in season 3, Rue will be in Mexico, where she’s trying to find money to pay off her debt to Laurie. In season 2, she got from her a suitcase of drugs worth $13,000. Laurie warned Rue that if she didn’t pay the money back, she would be sex trafficked. However, Rue’s mother got rid of the drugs when she found out that her daughter had relapsed into addiction, leaving Rue in serious trouble.
When asked about season 3, Sam Levinson revealed to Elle he wanted to use the convention of film noir to “tell the story of Rue, who explores what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world”.
One of the most colourful storylines in season 2 was Cassie’s romance with Nate, Maddy’s ex-boyfriend. According to Levinson, in season 3:
Cassie is living in the suburbs with Nate, they’re engaged, and she’s very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time.
I feel strongly this is our best season yet… I will say that Cassie and Nate do in fact get married. I’m confirming it. And I promise that it will be an unforgettable night.
There had been rumours that Cassie would join OnlyFans, but Levinson didn’t comment on these reports.
As for Nate, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jacob Elordi revealed that in season 3, his character wants just to survive, and that will require “the end of hubris” and “the end of arrogance”.
Adult life seems to be going better for Maddy, Lexi, and Jules.
As revealed by Levinson:
Jules is in art school, very nervous about having a career as a painter and trying to avoid responsibility at all costs. Maddy is working in Hollywood at a talent agency for a manager, she’s obviously got her own side hustles going. And Lexi [Apatow] is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone, who is just absolutely delightful and a true icon.
Who is starring in Euphoria season 3?
HBO has confirmed the return of the following actors and actresses:
- Zendaya – Rue

- Eric Dane – Cal
- Jacob Elordi – Nate

Sadly, Angus Cloud won’t return in Euphoria season 3 to play fan-favourite Fezco. In July 2023, the actor passed away due to a drug overdose. It’s yet unclear how the show creators are going to explain Fez’s absence in the upcoming season.
In the new episodes, we probably won’t see Javon Walton as Ashtray.
The eccentric brother of Fez was likely killed during a violent shootout with the police, reminiscent of scenes from the movie Scarface.
Barbie Ferreira, who played the role of Kat Hernandez, announced her departure from the series in 2022.
Storm Reid, known for her portrayal of Gia, will not be appearing in the third season of the show. In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, the actress revealed that Rue’s younger sister is not included in the season 3 script.
Iconic actress Sharon Stone, famous for her roles in Casino and Basic Instinct, has joined the cast of season 3. She will be playing the role of the showrunner that Lexi works for.
Natasha Lyonne, best known for her work in Orange Is the New Black, Russian Doll, and Poker Face, along with Trisha Paytas, an American media personality, will also be featured in Euphoria season 3. Additional cast members include Danielle Deadwyler and Eli Roth.
HBO has announced the addition of several new cast members to the series, including Rosalía, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Marshawn Lynch, and others.
As of now, there is no trailer available for Euphoria season 3. However, viewers can revisit the trailer for the second season while they wait for the new one to be released.
To watch Euphoria seasons 1 and 2 in the US, viewers can subscribe to Max for either the ad-supported or ad-free package. In the UK, the series is available on Sky Atlantic or Now, where a monthly subscription can be purchased.
