Uncovering the Hidden Treasures of Android 17: The Pixel Wallpaper Color Picker

Google is set to offer Pixel users the long-awaited level of wallpaper theme customization.

According to reliable tipster Mystic Leaks, who claims to have had early access to an upcoming Android 17 build, Google is preparing a “significant upgrade” for the Wallpaper & Style app.

A new color customization feature in the app will allow users to manually select their Material You colors.

Currently, Pixel users rely on Google presets for theme options. With the new approach, a color slider will be provided to help achieve the exact shade desired.

Additionally, there will be an option to adjust the saturation of the chosen color with settings like Neutral, Soft, Bright, and Bold.

The introduction of Material You with Android 12 in 2021 enabled dynamic theme color customization based on the current wallpaper selection.

Google further developed these elements with the Material 3 Expressive update late last year, introducing new animations and deeper customization options. However, users still lack the ability to fine-tune the color of their Pixel’s toggles and UI elements.

Aside from the new theming feature, early exposure to the fresh Android 17 build by the leaker revealed a new blur effect across the UI.

As noted by Android Authority, the refined color system may not be available immediately. It has not been included in any of Google’s Android 17 beta versions so far, and with the full release of Android 17 on the horizon, it could be reserved for a major Pixel Drop later in the year.
