Nintendo Launches Official Nintendo Store App for iOS and Android Devices

Nintendo has recently unveiled its official Nintendo Store app, providing easier access to the eShop for fans using iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Originally introduced as the “My Nintendo” app in Japan five years ago, the app has now been expanded to various regions, including the US, UK, Canada, and most of Europe.

What Can Users Expect from the Nintendo Store App?

According to listings on the App Store and Play Store, the Nintendo Store app allows users to browse and purchase a wide range of products, including Switch 2 and Switch consoles, hardware accessories, physical and digital games, and other Nintendo merchandise. While purchases are completed through the device’s default web browser, the app offers a more convenient way to access the Nintendo eShop compared to traditional mobile browser storefronts.

Key Features and Functionality

To fully utilize the app, users will need a Nintendo account and network ID. These credentials enable access to features such as checking historical gaming activity, displaying a comprehensive overview of games played, play durations, and more. While Switch and Switch 2 data is readily available, play activity for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U is limited to February 2020. Previously, this information was only accessible through parental controls.

Additional features of the Nintendo Store app include push notifications for discounted wishlist items, a news feed for updates on Nintendo games and events, and a rewards system for checking in at official Nintendo locations and events. This app is part of Nintendo’s strategy to provide dedicated destination apps for its various services, complementing existing offerings like Nintendo Music and Nintendo Today newsfeed.
