Recent reports from South Korea suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Tri-fold foldable could be launched this week.
Samsung had initially confirmed a release this year, but the previous prediction of a 29 September unveiling did not materialize.
Now, there are strong indications that the launch could be imminent. The Korea Herald reports that Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Tri-fold at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju, starting Friday, 31 October.
While the exact availability in stores and target markets remains uncertain, the device is said to be “slated for mass production” and expected to hit shelves later this year.
Noted leaker Evan Blass has expressed skepticism about the Tri-fold being released outside of Asia.
Huawei was the first to market with its Mate XT triple foldable.
Expect the Tri-fold very soon
According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy Tri-fold is rumored to feature a standard 6.5-inch cover screen and a large 10-inch main display when unfolded.
Rumors suggest that the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is nearing the end of its prominence in mobile technology.
The Galaxy Tri-fold is expected to include a 200Mp main camera and a 100x hybrid zoom function.
