Amazon Game Studios Unveils New Tomb Raider Reboot at Summer Game Fest

This year’s Summer Game Fest has brought forth exciting news for gamers worldwide. Amazon Game Studios has announced a new rendition of the beloved Tomb Raider franchise, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, set to release in early 2027.

Legacy of Atlantis is a complete reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider game, commemorating its 30th anniversary this October. Players will once again join British archaeologist Lara Croft (voiced by Alix Wilton Regan) on a thrilling quest to uncover the lost artifacts of the ancient civilization of Atlantis, complete with challenging puzzles, perilous mazes, and epic dinosaur battles.

The game has been rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, transforming the gameplay into a seamless open-world experience. Scheduled for launch on February 12, 2027, Legacy of Atlantis is a joint venture between Polish studio Flying Wild Hog (Hard Reset, Shadow Warrior) and Crystal Dynamics.

This release marks the beginning of Amazon’s ambitious reboot of the Tomb Raider series, first announced in 2022. Following Legacy, players can anticipate a direct sequel titled Catalyst, slated for release in the following year, continuing Lara Croft’s epic adventures from 2008’s Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Sony’s State of Play event showcased the official trailer for Legacy of Atlantis, providing a sneak peek into the upcoming gaming experience. Additionally, the event unveiled Marathon‘s second season, Nightfall, promising fresh challenges and an exciting gameplay reset for players.
