Apple’s Latest Innovation: iPhone Game Controllers in the Works

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed that Apple is working on two game controllers specifically designed for the iPhone, expected to be branded under Beats. Speculations about Apple’s venture into the game controller market have been circulating for some time. Recently, MacRumors discovered references to these controllers in macOS 26.7’s code, indicating them as first-party devices.

Despite the controllers being referenced in macOS code, Gurman asserts that they are intended for iPhones. He further explains that the development is being led by executives from Beats, a subsidiary brand of Apple known for experimenting in new product categories and offering competitive pricing compared to the premium Apple lineup.

Gurman highlights that Beats currently sells a variety of iPhone accessories like cases and cables that deviate from Apple’s traditional design ethos. This move signals that a game controller from Beats would likely follow this trend, aiming for affordability rather than premium materials.
