Halo: Campaign Evolved – A Remake of a Classic for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

Exciting news for Halo fans as Halo: Campaign Evolved has been confirmed for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign promises to bring a fresh take on the classic game, with expanded content and gameplay tweaks.

One of the key features of Halo: Campaign Evolved is the inclusion of two-player local co-op and an expanded four-player online co-op mode. This means that the level design has been expanded to accommodate more players, with three new missions, new enemies, more weapons, including the iconic Battle Rifle from Halo 2, and additional vehicles for players to use. Chief also gains new moves from later games, such as the ability to hijack vehicles and sprint.

Players can get a sneak peek of Halo: Campaign Evolved with 13 minutes of gameplay showcasing the iconic Silent Cartographer level. Changes in the layout, additional cover for the Covenant, and new battle scenarios demonstrate the efforts put into revamping the game.

The three new missions in Halo: Campaign Evolved serve as prequels to the rest of the Halo campaign, focusing on Master Chief and Sgt Johnson. A roundtable discussion with the developers sheds light on the creative process behind the game.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Halo: Campaign Evolved serves as a testbed for Halo Studio (formerly 343 Industries) to capture the essence of the franchise. While the game is a ground-up remake, elements from the original code are incorporated to maintain the authentic Halo gameplay experience.
