HP’s answer to the MacBook Neo is thinner, lighter, and comes with OLED

Introducing the HP OmniBook 5 14: A Worthy MacBook Neo Competitor

HP has unveiled its latest offering in the laptop market with the introduction of the OmniBook 5 14. Taking direct aim at Apple’s MacBook Neo, this sleek and powerful device is set to make waves with its impressive features and competitive pricing. Starting at $699.99, the OmniBook 5 14 comes equipped with an Intel Core 5 315 “Wildcat Lake” processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. While these specifications may sound familiar, the OmniBook sets itself apart with its stunning OLED display available on all configurations.

Powerful Configurations and Enhanced Features

For those seeking even more power, the OmniBook 5 14 can be configured with up to a Core 7 350 chip, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. All models come standard with a 1080p webcam, dual speakers, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack, and two 10Gbps USB-C ports. While the base configuration offers a decent 1920 x 1200 resolution and 300 nits of maximum brightness, a touchscreen version with a higher resolution OLED display is set to launch in March 2027.

Thin, Light, and Colorful Design

Despite not matching the MacBook Neo in raw processing power or screen brightness, the OmniBook 5 14 excels in its design and portability. Weighing just 2.56 pounds and measuring 0.46 inches thick, the OmniBook is slightly lighter and thinner than its competitor. The inclusion of Wildcat Lake chips also promises good battery life, making it an ideal choice for users on the go.

Expanding the Lineup

In addition to the OmniBook 5 14, HP has also introduced the ProBook 4 G2iS business laptop. Claimed to be the “thinnest business notebook” at 0.47 inches, this device boasts Intel Wildcat Lake chips, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Set to launch in December, the ProBook 4 G2iS offers a sleek and powerful option for professionals.
