Experience Seamless Streaming: AirPlay Comes to IHG Hotels and Resorts
Revolutionizing Hotel Entertainment: IHG Hotels & Resorts Introduce AirPlay Feature for iOS 17
Guests staying at more than sixty IHG Hotels & Resorts locations can now enjoy a seamless entertainment experience with the introduction of the new iOS 17 AirPlay feature. This innovative technology allows guests to effortlessly stream content from their iPhone or iPad directly to the TV in their hotel room, without the need for any additional hardware.
Similar to streaming to an Apple TV at home, guests have the convenience of selecting their hotel TV as the AirPlay output, enabling them to watch videos, view photos, and stream music with ease.
To connect to a compatible hotel TV, guests simply need to scan the unique QR code displayed on the screen. This action not only connects their device to the hotel’s Wi-Fi network but also authorizes AirPlay to stream content to that specific screen. It’s worth noting that the compatible TVs are manufactured by LG, ensuring a high-quality viewing experience.
The personalized QR code assigned to each hotel room guarantees that guests can privately enjoy their content on the TV without the risk of accidentally broadcasting to other TVs in the hotel. Furthermore, once guests check out, the AirPlay link is automatically erased, ensuring a clean slate for the next occupants.
The integration of AirPlay functionality in hotels was initially announced as part of iOS 17, with the feature officially rolling out in iOS 17.3 in January. With this recent implementation, iOS users can finally make use of this feature during their stay at participating IHG locations.
For a comprehensive list of IHG Hotels & Resorts locations offering this AirPlay feature, visitors can refer to the IHG website, with more locations set to introduce this technology in the coming months.
