Learn about real-life rewilding in "idle city-builder + creature collector" Grow Wild, which is taking playtest sign-ups

Rewilding Field for 15 Years Inspires New Videogame, Grow Wild

Spectrum48’s Philip Sinclair has dedicated 15 years to rewilding a field, a process aimed at restoring ecosystems to a more natural state of balance. Now, he is bringing his passion to life through a new videogame called Grow Wild, which is currently open for playtest sign-ups. In this game, players embark on a mission to restore various biomes around the world, transforming barren landscapes into thriving ecosystems with the help of tools like a trowel and magnifying glass.

The concept of Grow Wild may remind some players of Viva Pinata, but with a focus on non-digital creatures, flowers, and trees that exhibit realistic growth cycles. The trailer showcases captivating time-lapse shots, offering a glimpse into the immersive gameplay experience.

Grow Wild is described as a blend of an idle city-builder and creature collector, where players create ideal habitats for animals instead of humans. The game aims to entertain and educate players about the intricate balance of ecosystems.

Players are tasked with nurturing ecosystems by planting trees, building habitats, and attracting various wildlife, from invertebrates like butterflies and bees to larger predators like birds and foxes. The game features pruning, photography, and stickerbooking elements as players explore five biomes and 15 landscapes.

Accompanying players on their journey is the enthusiastic Professor Vicky Sponge, adding a touch of humor and guidance to the gameplay. As players delve into the game’s intricately designed natural spaces, they uncover the interconnectedness of flora and fauna within these microcosms.

While the game’s focus on individual rejuvenation of small land areas may seem limiting at first glance, Grow Wild aims to highlight the importance of conservation efforts on a micro level. The game’s characters, like Sid, add a playful element to the gameplay, hinting at potential multiplayer interactions.
