BMW iX3 Sets New Standard with 434-Mile Range in the U.S.
Discover the Enhanced Range of the 2027 BMW iX3
- The 2027 BMW iX3, previously estimated to have a range of 400 miles, now boasts an impressive 434-mile range on a single charge.
- While the new range figure is not yet EPA-certified, BMW’s internal testing has shown significant improvements in the iX3’s capabilities.
- At launch, the 434-mile range will be available on the iX3 50 xDrive model, the sole variant offered initially.
Unveiled last September, the second-generation iX3 from BMW promised a range of 400 miles based on internal testing using the EPA’s procedures. However, recent updates on BMW USA’s website now reveal an extended range of 434 miles, showcasing the vehicle’s enhanced performance.
Although the 434-mile figure is not yet officially EPA-certified, BMW’s confidence in the iX3’s capabilities is evident. Factors such as wheel size and driving style can influence the actual range achieved by owners.
The extended range of the iX3 50 xDrive brings it closer to its European counterpart, which is quoted to have a WLTP range of 500 miles. Additionally, the long-wheelbase iX3 in China is expected to cover over 559 miles in the CLTC test cycle.
Despite the increase in range, the anticipated starting price for the 2027 iX3 remains around $60,000 according to BMW USA. The vehicle is scheduled for launch this summer, with initial deliveries expected in late September or early October.
The configurator for the iX3 is set to go live in June, allowing customers to place orders and make deposits ahead of the production start in September. Additional single- and dual-motor variants will be introduced in North America in early 2027.
In Europe, BMW has already introduced the iX3 40 variant with rear-wheel drive and a smaller battery pack. Future additions to the lineup may include a dual-motor iX3 40 xDrive, an M Performance model, and a full-fledged M version.
For those interested in a sedan option, the 2027 i3 is expected to offer a range of 440 miles in the U.S. The i3 will be available for sale next year and is anticipated to be priced lower than the comparable iX3 model.
