Munich-based Furo raises €3.44 million to make industrial battery storage economically viable

Furo Secures €3.44 Million Funding Round to Expand Energy Software Platform

Furo, formerly known as Lumera Energy, a leading energy software company based in Munich, has successfully closed a funding round of €3.44 million ($4 million). The funding will be utilized to enhance the company’s software, enter new European markets, and expand its team.

The funding round was spearheaded by US investor TQ Ventures, with additional contributions from Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners, the fund of Sheryl Sandberg, as well as Neo and CDTM Venture Capital.

Co-founder of Furo, Lena Sophia Voß, emphasized the importance of software in the energy market, stating, “Our customers did not buy a battery in order to own a technology, but in order to lower their electricity bill. In one of the most volatile power markets in the world, that is decided by the software, not by the hardware.”

Established in 2025 as Lumera Energy by Voß, Leonie Wagner, and Simon Wittner, Furo is a software company specializing in the control and optimization of commercial and industrial battery storage systems. The platform offers advanced features such as forecasting power prices and weather up to 48 hours ahead, optimizing storage system operations in real-time, and marketing unused capacity in energy trading.

With the global energy demand from AI data centers on the rise, Furo’s software solution becomes crucial for energy-intensive industrial companies, particularly in Germany. By storing surplus solar or wind power and releasing it when needed, battery storage systems play a vital role in reducing electricity costs.

Furo’s innovative software differentiates itself by forecasting electricity prices and weather patterns, enabling customers to achieve up to a 40% reduction in electricity costs. The platform is currently utilized by more than 800 companies across over 6,000 sites in Germany and Europe.

The company’s unique approach to energy optimization has garnered significant attention in the market. TQ Ventures co-founding partner, Schuster Tanger, praised Furo’s deep understanding of the European energy market, citing it as a tremendous opportunity for growth.

Recently, Furo announced a partnership with Berlin-based LUOX Energy to launch a combined solution for optimizing commercial and industrial battery storage systems. In addition, the company underwent a rebranding in May 2026, transitioning from Lumera Energy to Furo.
