Freya Secures €533k Funding for Expansion Across Europe
Freya Industries Raises €533k in Funding Round
Freya Industries, a Swedish company known for developing intelligent and affordable sensors for security and defence, has successfully closed an oversubscribed funding round of €533k (SEK 6 million). The capital raised will be used to fulfill customer orders, expand the team, and facilitate the European rollout of their innovative products.
The funding round saw participation from prominent investors such as Foundry Ventures, Longswan Ventures, Propel Capital, Saminvest (via Annexstruktur), Schyssta Änglar, Sting, and selected private investors.
According to Jonas Åström, the founder & CEO of Freya Industries, their sensors go beyond simply recording information. They are designed to proactively understand the events they monitor, with intelligence embedded in the software. This approach allows the sensors to be cost-effective and widely deployable, whether for personal or site protection.
The investment in Freya Industries comes at a time of increased focus on European defence and sensing technologies. Other companies in the sector, such as Finland’s Kelluu and UK-based Silicon Microgravity, have also secured significant funding for their respective projects.
Despite being at an earlier stage and a smaller scale, Freya Industries’ emphasis on low-cost, software-driven sensors aligns with the broader trend towards more distributed and intelligent defence and security systems in Europe.
Freya Industries specializes in various technology areas, including drone detection and intelligent personal protection. Their drone detectors, for instance, are capable of identifying both drones and their pilots through a combination of advanced software and detection techniques.
Additionally, Freya is developing intelligent personal alarms for professional use, as well as other sensors aimed at safeguarding critical infrastructure. These products are integrated with Freya’s analytics platform, providing security companies and their clients with real-time insights and predictive risk assessment.
Furthermore, Freya has placed a strong emphasis on certification, security, and resilience to ensure that their hardware and software can operate effectively in challenging environments.
Overall, Freya Industries’ recent funding round underscores the growing demand for innovative security solutions in Europe, with the company poised to make significant strides in the development of cutting-edge sensor technology.
