Apple’s Missed Opportunity: Why Samsung Couldn’t Seize the Moment

When considering the potential success of the upcoming iPhone Duo, it’s hard to ignore the impact that its high price may have. Despite this, I believe that Apple may have overlooked a significant opportunity.

The iPhone Duo is set to include support for the Apple Pencil on both the outer and inner screens. While this is a step in the right direction, I can’t help but feel that Apple could have truly outshined Samsung if they had taken a different approach.

Exploring New Territory

Samsung has been a frontrunner in the foldable phone market since the beginning, paving the way with their Fold series. The latest iteration, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, showcases their commitment to innovation in this space.

Despite Samsung’s early entry into the foldable market, they have struggled to fully integrate their S Pen stylus system. While they have experimented with S Pen support over the years, they have yet to achieve the seamless stylus experience seen in their flagship non-foldable devices like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

While I may not be a heavy stylus user myself, the lack of seamless stylus integration in Samsung’s foldable devices is a missed opportunity. The deep-rooted stylus experience seen in their flagship non-foldable phones sets a standard that should have been carried over to their foldable lineup.

As someone who doesn’t typically use Samsung phones in my daily life and isn’t particularly artistically inclined, I still recognize the value of a well-integrated stylus system for those who rely on it for note-taking and creative tasks.
