Double Trouble: The Rare Pair of Porsche 911 S/Ts
The Unique Tale of the Limited-Edition Porsche 911 S/T with Duplicate Number Plaques
Earlier this year, a special limited-edition Porsche 911 S/T in a stunning ‘Paint to Sample Plus’ color named Fraise made its way to a lucky owner. While the attention was initially drawn to the eye-catching “strawberry” exterior, a small but significant detail went unnoticed – the limited-edition number plaque reading “1724/1963”.
It wasn’t long before social media users pointed out a curious coincidence – another 911 S/T with the same number already existed, hinting at a potential blunder on Porsche’s part. The original 911 S/T #1724 had been delivered to Pedro Solis Klussmann of Guatemala.
Porsche admitted to the mistake, attributing it to a manual error during the ordering process of the customised badge for the cars. Karl-Heinz Volz, Director of Sonderwunsch at Porsche, emphasized the human element in manufacturing and the importance of rectifying mistakes promptly and effectively.

To address the issue, Porsche brought both customers together for a special event in Zuffenhausen, celebrating the rarity of their 911 S/T models. The correct limited-edition number plaques were presented along with samples of the interior and exterior colors. The incorrectly installed plaque was ceremoniously handed over to Frank Jung, head of the company archive, for documentation.
The Fraise Porsche 911 S/T underwent some modifications, including Rouge Indien side decals to match the interior upholstery, black leather trim inlays, a Porsche crest in Turbonit, and “Unobtanium” kick plates in white. It now proudly displays the correct limited edition number “1742/1963”.

The original 911 S/T #1724 features the Heritage Design package and is coated in Shore Blue Metallic exterior color. The interior boasts seat center panels in Classic Cognac fabric with black pinstripes and a carbon fiber roll cage.
