The collaboration between Apple and Google aims to enhance Siri’s capabilities and bring it up to speed in the realm of artificial intelligence.

Apple Foundation Models to Utilize Google’s Gemini Models

Apple had previously announced that the next generation of Apple Foundation Models would be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology. These models are expected to power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri experience. While Apple Intelligence will continue to operate on Apple devices and Private Cloud Compute, it remains unclear whether the new Siri will operate on Google’s cloud infrastructure.

Apple’s History with Cloud Computing and AI

According to The Information, Apple has traditionally been conservative in its infrastructure spending, particularly in comparison to industry giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. These competitors have heavily invested in cloud computing and AI technologies to meet growing demands. Apple’s AI features have not gained significant traction, with only 10 percent of its Private Cloud Compute capacity being utilized on average.
