Microsoft Teams Up with TCL to Bring Xbox App to Smart TVs

In an exciting collaboration, Microsoft has announced a partnership with TCL to introduce the Xbox app to supported TCL smart TVs. This development will allow users to access Xbox Cloud Gaming and stream Game Pass titles or their owned games through a subscription.

Xbox App Coming to TCL TVs Soon

The Xbox app is set to make its debut on TCL TVs in the upcoming months, coinciding with Microsoft’s launch of a new pay-as-you-go option for Xbox Cloud Gaming in November. This move will enable individuals to utilize the cloud streaming service without requiring a subscription to Xbox Game Pass, catering to non-Xbox console owners. Additionally, Microsoft is exploring free, ad-supported cloud gaming for Xbox Insiders, potentially expanding access to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Changes to Cloud Gaming Access

While Microsoft is enhancing cloud gaming accessibility, it is also implementing limits on monthly cloud hours for Game Pass subscribers. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will have a cap of 15 hours of cloud access per month, with Premium subscribers allocated 10 hours and Game Pass Essential users restricted to 5 hours. Subscribers seeking additional playtime will have the option to purchase bundles of cloud hours.

Expansion of Xbox App to Various TV Brands

TCL joins the ranks of TV manufacturers partnering with Microsoft to introduce the Xbox app. Earlier this year, Hisense integrated the Xbox app into TVs running the VIDAA OS, while Samsung, LG, and Amazon Fire TV devices also offer access to the Xbox app.
