iOS 27 will add three new features to Apple’s Photos app, per report

iOS 27 is anticipated to introduce a range of innovative AI-powered photo editing functionalities, as stated in a recent report. These new features will offer users the ability to enhance, expand, and reframe their images quickly.

iOS 27 to emphasize AI-powered photo editing capabilities

Bloomberg has revealed that iOS 27 will revamp the editing interface within the Photos app by incorporating a new section called “Apple Intelligence Tools.” This menu is expected to include three options that can make modifications to a photo in just a few seconds.

The first option, “Extend,” will enable users to generate additional content outside the original frame of an image. For instance, users can capture a close-up shot of a landmark and utilize this tool to fill in the surrounding scenery. The extent of additional content can be adjusted by dragging the edges of the photo with their fingers.

The second option, “Enhance,” will automatically enhance the quality of an image, including aspects such as lighting and colors. Lastly, the “Reframe” feature will allow users to modify the perspective of spatial photos.

However, the development of these new photo editing tools has encountered some challenges, with the Extend and Reframe functions reportedly exhibiting unreliability during internal testing. This may prompt Apple to delay or scale back these features based on improvements to their underlying models.

The official unveiling of iOS 27 is scheduled for WWDC on June 8. Apart from the enhanced photo editing capabilities, the update is also expected to bring significant enhancements to the Siri experience and prioritize bug fixes and general stability improvements.
