Breaking News: ALPINA to Release New 7 Series Model in 2027

  • BMW’s collaboration with ALPINA will result in the release of a high-end model based on the 7 Series G70.
  • This exclusive version will boast a plethora of standard features and ALPINA-specific enhancements.
  • Anticipate the ALPINA-branded model to be both pricier and more limited in availability compared to the standard BMW 7 Series.

After a four-year hiatus, ALPINA is set to introduce a new addition to its lineup, with the latest model being based on the 7 Series G70 that recently underwent a facelift. The last B7 model rolled off the production line in 2022, marking the end of a lineage that originated in 1987 with the B11 3.5 built on the 7 Series E32 platform. Following BMW’s acquisition of the ALPINA brand name, rumors began circulating about the potential return of the B7, which is now confirmed to launch in 2026.

Today, alongside the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind coupe, ALPINA announced the upcoming release of a new ALPINA-badged 7 Series, scheduled for next year. This model will mark the debut of the BMW ALPINA brand, aimed at bridging the gap between BMW and Rolls-Royce in terms of luxury and performance.

While specific details about the new ALPINA 7 Series are still scarce, we can speculate on certain aspects. Positioned above the G70, this premium sedan is expected to offer an extensive list of standard features and exclusive design elements, characteristic of ALPINA’s bespoke offerings.

Will There Be a Longer Wheelbase?

It remains uncertain whether the upcoming ALPINA model will feature an extended wheelbase to enhance passenger comfort. With the standard 7 Series already boasting a generous wheelbase of 3215 millimeters (126.5 inches), a further elongation may not be a priority for BMW.

Although the internal codename for the ALPINA variant has not been confirmed, sources suggest it could be referred to as the G72, following the standard G70 and the armored G73. The return of the B7 moniker seems unlikely, as reports indicate the facelifted 7 Series will be offered in various configurations, including six- and eight-cylinder options, and potentially an electric version based on the i7 platform.

According to ALPINA’s statement, customers can expect a model inspired by the BMW 7 Series but distinctly showcasing ALPINA’s touch.

Expect a Premium Price Tag

Due to its elevated position in the luxury segment, the ALPINA 7 Series is projected to come with a significant price premium over the standard variant. The inline-six model, likely derived from the 740 series, could start at a higher price point, especially if equipped with xDrive all-wheel drive.

While the current 7 Series lineup no longer includes a V8 model, BMW has confirmed plans for an eight-cylinder M-branded version, potentially named the M760. Additionally, rumors suggest the possibility of an ALPINA electric model, possibly based on the i7 M70 platform.

With the imminent launch of the ALPINA 7 Series, BMW enthusiasts can look forward to a new era of luxury and performance offerings from the renowned automaker.
