Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Still On Track for 2028, Says Saber Interactive

Saber Interactive’s new chief business officer Steve Allison has hinted that the highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still in development and could potentially be released in the year 2028.

Allison recently addressed inquiries online following his promotion to the position of chief business officer. His comments, initially shared on the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 subreddit before the original post was removed, indicated a positive outlook on the progress of the KOTOR Remake.

In response to queries regarding his statement, Saber confirmed that the remarks attributed to Allison were indeed from the company’s top executive. However, they clarified that these statements are not official announcements regarding the mentioned games or their release dates.

Discussing his responsibilities and the company’s plans for the future, Allison mentioned, “That includes Space Marine, [John] Wick, hopefully KOTOR Remake, and a few unannounced titles.”

The use of the term “hopefully” suggests that Saber Interactive is aiming for a 2028 release for the remake but cannot guarantee its readiness at this time. Nevertheless, this statement indicates that the project is still active despite previous development challenges.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was first announced back in 2021. Since then, issues during development and limited official updates have led to uncertainties about the game’s future. Previous communications have mainly reassured fans that work on the remake is ongoing.

Allison also touched on Saber Interactive’s approach to monetization, stating that while the company may offer paid downloadable content for its games, they do not engage in microtransactions as a monetization strategy.
