Australian Peugeot Distributor Recalls Peugeot 2008 SUVs Due to Fire Hazard

Inchcape European Automotive, the Australian distributor of Peugeot vehicles, has issued a recall for nearly 200 Peugeot 2008 small SUVs. The reason for the recall is a potential under-bonnet short-circuit that could result in a fire.

According to the company’s recall notice, the issue stems from a manufacturing defect that led to insufficient clearance between the gasoline particulate filter pipe and the pole protection cup of the 48V belt starter generator. In wet conditions, this lack of clearance could pose an electrical hazard, potentially causing overheating and a fire in the engine compartment.

The company warns that a vehicle fire increases the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, and property damage.
