Breaking News: Adobe’s Project Indigo Camera Now Compatible with iPhone 17
Adobe’s Project Indigo Faces Challenges with iPhone 17 Selfie Sensor
Adobe recently encountered difficulties with its computational photography app, Project Indigo, when trying to adapt it to the new square-format selfie sensor in the iPhone 17 series. Initially, the app did not support Apple’s latest phones at all, causing frustration among users. Despite working diligently behind the scenes and providing updates on the Adobe Community forums, the company ultimately made the decision to disable access to the front-facing camera entirely. This move was necessary to ensure that a version of Project Indigo with iPhone 17 support could be released promptly.
Launched in June, Project Indigo quickly gained a following for its unique approach to image processing, offering a softer touch compared to the standard iPhone camera app. However, the introduction of new sensors in the iPhone 17 series posed a challenge for the app. A forthcoming fix in iOS 26.1 will enable Adobe to reinstate selfie camera support. In the meantime, owners of iPhone 17 devices will have to settle for using the rear camera exclusively.
