Meta Launches Premium Subscriptions for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Meta AI

In a move to generate new revenues and enhance user experience, Meta has announced the global rollout of premium subscriptions for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Meta AI. The company is following the trend set by other tech giants like Google, who recently adjusted their subscription plans after significant investments in AI technology.

Subscription Details

Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will be available for $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus will cost $2.99 per month. These premium subscriptions offer various features such as extended story availability, story preview options, and enhanced interaction with stories.

WhatsApp Plus includes the ability to pin additional chats and use premium stickers. Notably, these subscriptions will not replace Meta Verified, the company’s existing paid verification subscription.

Meta AI Subscription Plans

Meta is introducing Meta One Plus for $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium for $19.99 per month. These plans will enable users to create more images and videos using Meta AI. The free version of Meta AI will now have usage limits, particularly in its Thinking mode and with video and image generation. The company will conduct initial tests of these AI-focused plans in select markets next month.

New Plans for Creators and Businesses

Meta is testing Meta One Essential priced at $14.99 and Meta One Advanced at $49.99 per month, offering benefits like the Meta Verified badge and improved visibility on social media platforms. The advanced plan allows Instagram creators to include clickable links in posts and reels. Initial testing of these plans will commence in various countries later this week.
