Google’s Gemini Agent: Streamlining Your Work Tasks in One Place

Google has unveiled a groundbreaking “universal” Gemini AI agent that is designed to seamlessly operate across various applications and devices in the background. This innovative tool was announced during the Gemini at Work event, promising users the ability to interact with the Gemini agent and delegate tasks through a unified interface within the Gemini Enterprise app.

Apart from integrating Gemini into Workspace apps such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and more, users can also engage with the agent on their mobile devices, desktop computers, the web, and third-party platforms like Slack or Microsoft 365. Thanks to its cloud-based nature, Gemini ensures consistent contextual understanding across all connected devices.

Google has highlighted that Gemini has the capacity to collaborate with job-specific sub-agents for task completion and can function as a “coworker agent” with a dedicated identity and its unique “@agents.company.com” email address. Employing an AI model tailored for each task, Gemini autonomously executes assigned tasks efficiently.

While the Gemini agent is currently exclusive to enterprise clients in a private preview phase, it provides a glimpse into Google’s grand vision for an AI assistant capable of answering queries and performing tasks seamlessly from a unified platform. Previously, Google launched the consumer-oriented Gemini Spark agent in May, offering subscribers the ability to manage tasks within Workspace and online, though through a distinct interface within the Gemini app.
