Three months after its official kick-off in Brussels, the Q-PLANET Pilot Line is moving from vision to execution, with Pasqal steering 28 partners from 11 European countries to build a resilient European supply chain for neutral-atom quantum technologies.

Q-PLANET Pilot Line: Building a Resilient European Supply Chain for Quantum Technologies

Steering 28 partners from 11 European countries, Pasqal is leading the implementation of the Q-PLANET Pilot Line, which aims to create a robust European supply chain for neutral-atom quantum technologies. This initiative, launched in Brussels three months ago, is now transitioning from vision to execution.

With funding from the EU Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) and National/Regional authorities, Pasqal is coordinating the development of industrial-grade chip components for neutral-atom quantum computing, sensing, and communication. The consortium, backed by €50 million over three years, consists of partners from various European countries.

Commitment to Europe’s Quantum Industrial Ambitions

By spearheading the Q-PLANET project, Pasqal demonstrates its dedication to the European Union’s industrial quantum ambitions, aligned with the upcoming EU Quantum Act. This initiative is a key component of the European Quantum Strategy, aimed at supporting the widespread industrialization of quantum technologies within the EU.

Q-PLANET seeks to establish a cutting-edge European quantum supply chain, enhancing the region’s resilience, strategic autonomy, and global competitiveness in the field. Over the next three years, the consortium will develop vital components for neutral-atom quantum technologies, such as lasers, atom chips, and microfabricated vapor cells.

Building a European Quantum Market

Under Pasqal’s leadership, Q-PLANET will strengthen the European neutral-atom ecosystem by fostering collaborations between research organizations, industry partners, and academic institutions. The consortium aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical quantum applications, addressing the needs of European users.

By advancing quantum computing, sensing, and communication technologies, Q-PLANET will pave the way for future quantum applications in sectors like drug discovery and materials science. This initiative will help bring European quantum technologies closer to real-world deployment and adoption.
