A member of the digital extortion group ShinyHunters, known online as “Rey,” has reportedly been apprehended by authorities in Jordan, as per sources familiar with the situation.

The individual, identified as Saif ‌al-Din Khader, was taken into custody on September 29, 2026, and is said to be collaborating with the FBI and law enforcement to identify other group members.

According to reports, Rey, also known as ReyXBF, was previously associated with various cybercrime activities, including being an administrator for data leak websites and ransomware groups.

This recent development is part of the ongoing crackdown on ShinyHunters, which has also led to the arrest of another individual linked to the group’s malicious activities.

While the identity of the second individual remains undisclosed, reports suggest that it was a former hacker turned cybersecurity professional, who was employed at a Dutch company.

Following the latest arrest, the FBI has expressed its commitment to pursuing further leads and making additional arrests in connection with the ongoing investigation.

ShinyHunters has been in the news recently for its cyberattacks on various entities, including hijacking a darknet website and breaching the FBI’s portal to steal sensitive data.

The group has denied seeking financial gain in their actions against the FBI, claiming instead to be challenging false allegations made by the agency.

According to FBI officials, ShinyHunters and its collaborators have targeted numerous organizations, extorting millions of dollars in payments through data breaches and other illicit activities.

Law enforcement authorities have urged other members of the group to come forward and cooperate, warning that they can no longer evade detection.

Cybersecurity experts have traced the origins of ShinyHunters to earlier hacking groups, highlighting the group’s evolution into a persistent and adaptable entity in the cybercrime landscape.

The resilience of ShinyHunters, according to researchers, lies in its decentralized structure and shared brand identity, allowing for continuous operation despite legal setbacks and arrests.
