Double the Excitement: Touchscreen MacBook Pro Launch and October Events
Apple is gearing up for a second event in October, following the announcement of its “Welcome Home” experience scheduled for Tuesday, October 13. Speculations are rife about what the tech giant has in store for its next event.
The “Welcome Home” event is expected to showcase Apple’s foray into the next generation of smart home technology. Anticipated highlights include the unveiling of a long-awaited smart home hub, a new A19-powered Apple TV 4K, and the second-generation HomePod mini. Other products expected to make an appearance are likely to revolve around enhancing the home ecosystem.
However, Apple has more in store for the remainder of 2026 beyond home products. The lineup includes the introduction of entry-level Macs such as a 14-inch MacBook Pro, a new iMac with refreshed chips, and the much-anticipated touchscreen MacBook Pro. Additionally, the launch of the rumored “iPad mini 8” is imminent.
According to reports by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro is set to debut by early November, with a rumored launch date of October 27—exactly two weeks after the “Welcome Home” event in New York.
The format of the upcoming event remains undisclosed. It could follow the trend of previous events like the “Scary Fast” event in 2023 and the “Week of Mac” in 2024. Gurman suggests that the products are slated to be released “on or around Tuesday, Oct. 27,” with an online video presentation and an “in-person component for the press.”
There are speculations that the iPad mini might be unveiled even sooner, following Apple’s pattern of quietly introducing products ahead of major announcements. This year, the spotlight is expected to be on the touchscreen MacBook Pro, a device that has been highly anticipated by Mac enthusiasts for its groundbreaking features.
Contrary to earlier reports about a new “Ultra” class of machines, Gurman implies that the new MacBook Pros will be an evolution of the standard high-end MacBook Pro models, featuring lighter designs and OLED screens.
Apple’s decision to skip the Pro/Max versions of the M6 chip indicates that the upcoming models could utilize the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The touchscreen MacBook Pro is likely to serve as an upgrade to the existing models released earlier this year.
Alongside the touchscreen MacBook Pro, Apple is expected to launch an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M6 chip and an M6 iMac. These models are anticipated to offer processor upgrades without significant design changes.
It’s important to note that the information provided in this article is based on rumors and speculations and has not been confirmed by Apple. Readers are advised to take all tech rumors with a grain of salt.
