BMW M2 CS: Exclusive Model Sold Out in Japan

During the 2025 Tokyo Motor Show, BMW M CEO Frank van Meel announced that all 87 units of the M2 CS designated for Japan have been completely sold out. This limited edition model, coincidentally linked to the “G87” chassis code, represents the entirety of Japan’s allocation for this high-performance coupe.

U.S. Market Dominates M2 CS Production

While Japan’s share of the M2 CS is limited, the U.S. market stands as the largest recipient of this upcoming model. With global production estimated to be fewer than 2,000 units, around 300 are expected to be allocated for American customers. BMW has chosen not to disclose specific production numbers for its CS models, including the M4 CS and M3 CS Touring.

Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President of Customer, Brand, and Sales at BMW M, previously mentioned the high demand for the M2 CS, with the U.S. leading in sales, followed by Germany and China. Production figures may be adjusted based on order volume, but with allocations running out quickly, interested buyers are urged to make swift decisions.

Four Color Options for the BMW M2 CS

At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, BMW presented the M2 CS in Individual Velvet Blue, one of the standout color choices available. For those seeking a more understated appearance, Sapphire Black, Brooklyn Grey, and M Portimao Blue are also available, each paired with matte Gold Bronze forged wheels.

Japanese pricing for the M2 CS starts at ¥14,880,000 (approximately $97,000), excluding the 10% consumption tax and optional extras like Individual paint or carbon-ceramic brakes. Deliveries are set to commence next month, with all units featuring right-hand drive configurations.

The BMW M2 CS may not be the final offering from the G87 generation. BMW M is currently working on a Track Package for the following year, while an M2 xDrive variant is expected to make its debut in 2026. Although enthusiasts hope for an even more extreme M2 CSL model, that possibility seems unlikely at this time.
