Munich-based Arcos raises €5.5 million to build and operate civil safety infrastructure across Europe

Arcos, a startup based in Munich, specializing in the construction and operation of civil security infrastructure, has successfully closed a Seed funding round, securing €5.5 million. The company officially launched today.

The funding round was spearheaded by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), with additional contributions from Bayern Kapital, Pact, Haufe, Robin Capital, and strategic business angels.

Moritz Steigerwald, the founder and managing director of Arcos, emphasized the importance of taking responsibility for Europe’s safety, particularly in terms of critical infrastructure such as power, transport, water, and data. He stated that Arcos was established to address the need for a company dedicated to overseeing this vital infrastructure. The recent funding will enable Arcos to expand its team in Germany, enhance its platform, and venture into critical infrastructure projects across various European markets.

Founded by Louis Wübben and Steigerwald, Arcos specializes in civil security solutions, focusing on building and managing secure infrastructure where technology signals converge. The company highlights the evolving security landscape, with a significant increase in sensor deployment across residential and commercial properties, railway stations, substations, and data centers.

Arcos emphasizes the critical role of continuous monitoring in safeguarding infrastructure against potential threats. The company points out instances of attacks on substations, railway lines, and industrial sites, underscoring the importance of constant surveillance to prevent such incidents.

Wübben, the co-founder and Managing Director of Arcos, stressed the necessity of vigilant monitoring in an evolving security industry characterized by a higher sensor-to-staff ratio. He emphasized the company’s focus on utilizing technology to provide comprehensive security solutions.
