Swinging in Style: Amazon’s Private Label Golf Balls Take on the Competition
Amazon Basics Golf Balls: A Budget-Friendly Option for Golfers
Looking for affordable golf balls without compromising quality? Amazon has entered the game with its Amazon Basics brand, offering a dozen balls for just $15.99. This budget-friendly option aims to cater to cost-conscious golfers seeking value.
After purchasing a box of Amazon Basics golf balls in November, we were intrigued by the price point and decided to put them to the test.
Our experiment involved comparing the performance of Amazon Basics balls against two higher-end competitors—Taylormade TP5x and Titleist ProV1. Professional golf instructors Austin Nutt and Tyler Yee were enlisted to help evaluate the balls’ performance across various clubs.
Unsurprisingly, the Taylormade and Titleist balls outperformed the Amazon Basics balls in terms of distance and ball speed, especially with the driver. The Amazon balls were described as having a softer feel, earning the moniker “Core Soft.”

While the Amazon Basics balls may not offer the same level of control for short shots around the green, they do provide durability, showing minimal signs of wear compared to the higher-end options.
Despite the performance differences, both Yee and Nutt acknowledged the value of the Amazon Basics balls for beginners or high-handicap golfers. With a 4.5-star rating from nearly 600 reviews on Amazon, these balls have garnered positive feedback from the online golf community.
It’s worth noting that Amazon’s golf balls are USGA-approved, making them suitable for tournament play. Although currently out of stock, they are expected to be available again in early 2026.
Ultimately, the choice between premium golf balls and budget-friendly options like Amazon Basics boils down to personal preference and playing style. While serious golfers may opt for higher-end balls for a competitive edge, the affordability and performance of Amazon’s offering make it a compelling choice for many players.
