Apple Retail Gears Up for Highly Anticipated iPhone Duo Release
Apple is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of its new iPhone Duo, with plans to showcase demo units and new displays in Apple Stores. However, sources suggest that supplies of the foldable device will be limited, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Gurman reveals that Apple will be introducing a special “spotlight” table for the new iPhone in most Apple Store locations. These tables will feature Apple’s signature white display tables with central posts, along with a new fixture designed to demonstrate how the phone folds and unfolds. Additionally, Apple will reserve a section of its flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City for the new device.
The availability of demo units will vary across different stores. While the Fifth Avenue store is expected to have over 150 handsets available for customers to try out, standard Apple retail stores may only have around 20 units on hand for demonstrations. Other prominent stores, such as Chicago’s Michigan Avenue and The Grove in Los Angeles, are projected to have between 30 to 40 demo-ready devices.
In a bid to make the iPhone Duo stand out, Apple is planning to set up dedicated areas at its flagship locations and provide additional spotlight tables at other stores. A new fixture will showcase the device’s folding mechanism, ensuring that customers are captivated by the innovative design.
Furthermore, Apple will introduce a MagSafe stand on store tables to display an unfolded iPhone Duo alongside two standard iPhones for comparison. Customers will have the opportunity to experience the Duo’s StandBy mode without being tethered to a table.
The demo units will be strategically placed along the side of Apple Stores in an area known as “The Avenue.” However, due to the limited number of demo units available, it may be challenging to test the device at non-flagship stores.
Despite the buzz surrounding the iPhone Duo, Apple is facing constraints in the supply of the new device. Initially, there were concerns about inventory levels, with Apple considering a later launch date in November. However, the company decided to proceed with an October launch, albeit with limited stock availability.
For customers purchasing the iPhone Duo at a US Apple Store, Apple will offer a unique feature allowing them to personalize the device’s boot screen with their name. This customization will be exclusive to English and Spanish languages.
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo will begin on Friday, October 16, with deliveries and in-store availability starting on October 23, 2026. The base model, starting at $1,999 for 256 GB, is set to make a splash in the market.
Overall, Apple’s strategic approach to showcasing the iPhone Duo in its retail stores reflects a commitment to providing customers with an immersive and personalized experience. With limited supplies and high demand expected, the launch of the foldable device is sure to generate excitement among tech enthusiasts.
