macOS 27 brings three key upgrades to my favorite feature

Utilizing iPhone Mirroring on a daily basis allows me to conveniently access my iPhone directly from my Mac, and the experience has been enhanced significantly this year. The recent release of iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate introduced three significant updates to iPhone Mirroring. Here’s a detailed overview of the latest features.

macOS 27: Updates for iPhone Mirroring

The most notable enhancement for iPhone Mirroring in macOS 27 is the newfound ability to resize the iPhone Mirroring window.

As detailed by my colleague Marcus in a recent report, users can now adjust the size of the iPhone Mirroring window when using any iOS 27-compatible apps. Currently, this feature is limited to Apple’s native iPhone apps. However, as developers begin releasing iOS 27 updates later in the year, support for resizing will become more widespread.

Previously, macOS only offered three preset sizes for iPhone Mirroring: smaller, actual size, and larger. The update in macOS 27 Golden Gate and iOS 27 strongly suggests that Apple is gearing up for the launch of the foldable iPhone Ultra later this year.

iPhone Mirroring in macOS 27 and iOS 27 also introduces several other enhancements:

  • Access to Control Center
  • DRM video support

Previously, accessing Control Center was not supported in iPhone Mirroring. With macOS 27, users can now access it using the CMD+4 keyboard shortcut or through the “View” menu in the Mac’s menu bar.

DRM video support enables users to watch protected videos via iPhone Mirroring on their Mac. Previously, all DRM-protected videos would display a black screen when iPhone Mirroring was activated.

Additionally, macOS 27 introduces a new app icon for iPhone Mirroring, aligning with the updates seen in many other stock Apple applications.

How frequently do you utilize iPhone Mirroring on your Mac? Have you experimented with these new features in macOS 27? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
