Monte Carlo Capital raises €13 million for Fund II to invest in early-stage DeepTech, AI and SpaceTech

Monte Carlo Capital (MCC), a venture firm based in Monaco, has announced a successful first close of €13 million ($15 million) for Fund II, with a target of €26 million ($30 million). This achievement follows the close of Fund I at over €11 million in 2025, as reported by EU-Startups. Many Fund I LPs have reinvested, and Fund II has already invested in five companies.

According to Ian Sosso, the founder and Managing Partner of Monte Carlo Capital, reaching a $15 million first close on Fund II demonstrates strong investor confidence. The firm’s strategy remains focused on investing early in promising companies and partnering with leading VCs to support their growth.

Fund II’s first close comes at a time of increased fundraising activity among European venture capital firms targeting DeepTech, AI, and other emerging technologies in 2026. Recent coverage by EU-Startups includes the launch of funds by Vanagon Ventures, Project Ventures, and Ruya Ventures, among others.

Noteworthy fund vehicles in the European market include 360 Capital’s Poli360 2 fund, Merantix Capital’s AI fund, Transition Ventures’ Fund II, and Elaia’s DeepTech Seed fund. Together, these announcements represent a significant amount of disclosed fund capital, with MCC’s first close contributing to the total.

Founded in 2009 by Ian Sosso, MCC utilizes a lean fund structure combined with co-investment SPVs. Ian’s background as an angel investor and his leadership in over 50 syndicates have positioned MCC as a reputable player in the early-stage investment landscape. He was recognized as the Best European Early-Stage Investor by the European Business Angels Network in 2019.

MCC’s current portfolio includes successful companies like StarCloud, which achieved unicorn status with a valuation of €2 billion ($2.3 billion), and Scout AI, known for securing one of the largest DefenceTech Series A rounds in US history.

The announcement of Fund II’s first close comes three years after MCC’s inaugural fund launch in 2023. The fund focuses on Seed-stage investments, with select opportunities at pre-Seed and Series A levels, particularly in sectors such as DeepTech, AI, SpaceTech, and enterprise software.

In conclusion, Monte Carlo Capital’s continued success and strategic approach to early-stage investing position the firm as a key player in the European venture capital landscape. With a strong track record and a focus on high-potential sectors, MCC is poised for further growth and success in the years to come.
